Chambolle was really special in 2008, and the les Amoureuses from Joseph Drouhin is everything one could imagine from this most elegant of vintages. The brilliant nose offers up an utterly refined mélange of red berries, cherries, coffee, mustards seed, great minerality, woodsmoke, coffee and a perfumed topnote of dusty rose. On the palate the wine is deep, fullish and very intensely flavored, with glorious minerality, a sappy core of red fruit, beautiful complexity and superb grip and focus on the modestly tannic, tangy and very transparent finish. A great Amoureuses. - JG
